It’s crazy to think that Dalvin Cook, one of the best and most efficient running backs in the National Football League, had such a tough time finding a deal this offseason.
Teams don’t care about what you did in the past; it’s all about what you can do now, and while Cook is still young, he might be old for a player playing his position.
That’s why Skip Bayless doesn’t think he’s going to make much of an impact on the Baltimore Ravens.
Talking on Undisputed, the controversial pundit stated that players tend to hit a wall at that position, and there’s no return once that happens.
He stated that Cook never ‘caught his eye’ this season with the New York Jets, adding that he thinks Melvin Gordon II will have a bigger role in the Ravens’ No. 1 rushing attack.
“I watched the Jets, and I watched them a whole lot. He never caught my eye. He is on the downside,” Bayless said.

That’s fair; Cook, albeit coming off an excellent season, did seem to lose a step during his brief tenure in the Big Apple.
Then again, he was No. 2 in the pecking order because of the rise of a young star like Breece Hall, and it’s not like the Jets were able to get anything on the ground with that offensive line, either.
The Ravens didn’t necessarily need to have Cook on their roster to be the best rushing team in the league, but at least they made sure that no one else would get him, and that’s also worth something, as he could still have plenty left in the tank.
