The Las Vegas Raiders have shown some promise toward the end of the 2023 NFL season as their defense has picked up its play and carried them to some impressive victories.
However, while the defense has been great most of the praise should go to the interim head coach Antonio Pierce who managed to turn their season around.
Pierce took over the sidelines when Raiders owner Mark Davis decided to fire Josh McDaniels and the former assistant coach did an outstanding job getting the most out of its locker room.
The head coaching job will be the biggest thing for Las Vegas to address in the offseason as they look to finally find someone to keep long-term.
Davis has been known to make splash hires, but the fanbase has clamored for Pierce to hold onto the job.
However, it appears that Davis will continue to evaluate all his options via Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
“Mark Davis has always made it known that a team in Las Vegas needs a star coach. Jim Harbaugh is very much atop his list, as is Belichick if he leaves New England,” Russini reported.
The Raider player endorsements for Antonio Pierce have been strong the last few weeks, and it’s apparent he has the locker room’s trust.
Does this help? Sometimes.
Does it get you the job? Not always, writes @DMRussini.

Jim Harbaugh has been one of the most heavily linked names to the Raiders job given his ties to the franchise and his success at the collegiate and professional levels.
Meanwhile, Bill Belichick is widely expected to become available after another lost season coaching the New England Patriots.
Both head coaches have the pedigree to turn around Las Vegas, but Pierce has certainly done enough to earn the role.
