Bill Belichick’s tenure with the New England Patriots may have ended just as sadly as his final season went.
He lost to the New York Jets for the first time in 16 games, failing to score a single touchdown in what might as well be his final home game in New England.
But as bad as Belichick and the Patriots looked this season, he’s still one of the greatest — if not the greatest — head coach in the history of football.
That’s why it’s just a matter of time before he finds himself a new home if the Patriots, indeed, decide to show him the door.
With that in mind, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that the Atlanta Falcons are a team to keep an eye on if Belichick becomes available.
Bill Belichick is still the head coach in New England but the Atlanta Falcons are a team to watch if Belichick is available. They are interested, per sources.

That might be kind of awkward, considering he’s the very same guy who coached his team to an epic 25-point comeback in the Super Bowl just six years ago, but that also means they know him and his track record pretty well.
The Falcons just fired Arthur Smith after his third consecutive 7-10 season in another unsurprising decision.
The biggest issue in getting Belichick is the fact that he likes to be in full control of football operations, and the Falcons already have a GM in Terry Fontenot.
Also, with their doubts about the QB position and considering how misused their talented offensive playmakers were during the Smith era, hiring a defensive-minded coach might not be what they need right now.
