After being controversially fired by the Boston Red Sox while the 2023 season was still being played, former Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom had been out of a job.
Until Monday.
The St. Louis Cardinals are taking a chance on the talented executive and are giving him an important front office position.
“We have named Chaim Bloom as an Advisor to the President of Baseball Operations. Bloom most recently served as Chief Baseball Officer for the Boston Red Sox from 2019 through 2023,” the Cards tweeted.

Many people believed that Bloom’s firing was unfair, since he had built a strong farm system in Boston.
Others, however, focused on the lack of playoff baseball since the American League Championship Series in 2021 and said that he needed to go.
Now, the Cardinals will enjoy his contributions as an advisor to president of baseball operations John Mozeliak.
Bloom’s time with the Red Sox started in 2019 and culminated in a divorce last year.
Before that, he started his path as an intern with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2005.
He started climbing and getting promotions due to his baseball mind.
He has worked in player development, scouting, and even bigger roles, and has a penchant for including analytics to all his decisions.
That partnership he is about to form with Mozeliak looks extremely promising, as the two executives can complement each other.
The Cardinals have revamped their rotation with Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson and still have a strong core with Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Jordan Walker, Brendan Donovan, Nolan Gorman, Willson Contreras and more.
