Once the New York Jets were officially eliminated from playoff contention in the AFC, veteran running back Dalvin Cook asked the team to release him, as he desired to join a title contender with the start of the postseason right around the corner.
After a disappointing stint with the Jets, the team granted Cook’s request to be released, and after clearing waivers, the four-time Pro Bowler became a hot commodity on the open market as a free agent who could help a title contender.
The Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens emerged as candidates to sign Cook as a free agent, with both teams showing interest in the veteran back before he ultimately landed with the Jets following being released by the Minnesota Vikings before the start of the season.
The Ravens didn’t waste any time as they signed Cook shortly after he became a free agent, adding another potent weapon to their backfield.
Ahead of the Ravens’ first game in the postseason, which will come after this upcoming weekend due to the team clinching the top seed in the AFC and getting a first-round bye, Cook took to Twitter to express his excitement about being back in the playoffs.

Although Cook was one of the best running backs in the NFL at one point, he didn’t do much to help the Jets this season, as he struggled to make an impact in New York after signing with the team during training camp.
In 15 games with the Jets, Cook carried the football 67 times for 214 yards and zero touchdowns.
