The New York Giants and Saquon Barkley go back a long way, but their relationship may have reached a breaking point already.
Barkley has been their best offensive player for years now, but they haven’t exactly paid him the way he hoped.
They refused to sign him to a long-term contract extension, perhaps due to his injury-proneness, and the fact that they agreed to pay Daniel Jones that much money right after placing him under the franchise tag only strained their relationship further.
That’s why former NFL star Willie Colon believes it’s personal now and that he should do whatever he can to force his way off the team.
Talking on The Carton Show, Colon stated that Barkley is ‘dying’ there and that he needs to find a way to get to another team where he’s actually valued.
“I think Saquon Barkley is dying in New York. He’s a hell of a running back and he’s good for the locker room. All that said, I would fight my way out of there,” Colon said.

However, Craig Carton has a valid point when he says that the Giants pretty much own him right now.
They can place him under the franchise tag again because they know the threat of a holdout isn’t real.
Barkley won’t get his money back if he holds out, and no other team in the league is going to pay a running back with a history of injuries more than the $12 million he could get as a franchise-tagged player.
It’s a ruthless business, and the Giants haven’t done right by their best player, but that’s just the way things go, and it’s not like they’re breaking any rules.
