Against all odds and despite having a subpar roster, the Pittsburgh Steelers made it to the playoffs again.
This marked the seventeenth consecutive non-losing season for coach Mike Tomlin in charge of the Black and Gold, but it wasn’t exempt from criticism or controversies.
There were some rumblings about the coach being on the hot seat, and even some fans started wondering whether it was time to move on from the lifelong coach.
That’s why Jim Rome asked NFL and Steelers legend Troy Polamalu his thoughts on this matter, and his response was quite straightforward.
The legendary defender stated that it would be terrible for the Steelers not to have Mike Tomlin leading the way next season, blasting the ‘crazy’ fans for even thinking the team would be better off without him.
“Absolutely, I think the talk is crazy for people to consider or think that he wouldn’t be our coach next year,” Polamalu said.

Polamalu raved about Tomlin and the way he connects with younger players and helps them develop, calling him one of the greatest coaches in NFL history and a future Hall of Famer.
He also called him one of the best tacticians in the league, and that’s also hard to argue with.
Then again, the Steelers haven’t been a legitimate Super Bowl contender in years, and the fans also have every right to demand nothing but greatness and hold the team accountable.
Non-losing seasons are great, but the Steelers are used to a certain standard, and so are their fans.
So, while Mike Tomlin’s job shouldn’t be in jeopardy, perhaps it’s time to start putting some pressure on him.
