The Chicago Bears have two major questions to answer this offseason: What do they do with Justin Fields and what do they do with head coach Matt Eberflus?
Both decisions will have short- and long-term effects on the team under general manager Ryan Poles.
But after just a few days into the offseason, the team has already concluded they’ll keep one of those two pieces: Eberflus.
The Bears opted not to make a head coaching change, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, after “extensive meetings” to open the week.

Eberflus proved this past season he could adjust in-season to build a winning team, as evidenced by the Bears’ 7-10 record with five wins coming in their final eight games.
Even more, the Bears’ defense looked vastly improved in the second half of the season than it did in the first.
The biggest issue for Chicago, now, is what the team does with the offense.
The Bears already fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy after his second season with the team and could move on from Fields as well and draft a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick.
Alternatively, Chicago could keep Fields and trade the No. 1 pick for a bounty of draft capital and try to fortify other areas of the team, such as wide receiver or offensive line.
Both are intriguing options which will be made easier by the team’s decision to keep Eberflus this offseason.
His input will undoubtedly help Poles and the rest of the Bears’ front office choose between Fields and a rookie quarterback this spring.
