The Washington Commanders parted ways with HC Ron Rivera, which was far from a surprise.
Rivera’s tenure in Maryland was vastly disappointing, and he had been on the hot seat entering almost every season.
What does surprise people is the fact that, according to NFL insider Jonathan Jones, they’re not expected to pursue Bill Belichick, who recently parted ways with the New England Patriots.
Checked in yet again and sources I’ve spoken to have reaffirmed the Commanders are not expected to pursue Bill Belichick

Then again, this does make sense for what new owner Josh Harris is trying to instill in the team.
Harris, Magic Johnson, and the new ownership group are expected to take a ‘hands-on’ approach in the team’s decision-making, and that’s not the way Bill Belichick rolls.
Belichick wants to be in charge of all decisions, both minor and major, and there could be a bit of a power struggle there.
On top of that, as great a coach as he is, his ways did look quite outdated in the past couple of years, both on and off the field.
The Commanders are looking to propel themselves into the next century, and hiring a veteran coach who might only be there for a couple of years and with a recent negative track record might not be the wisest choice.
This team will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of their next coach, with Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh as a potential candidate to take the reins of the team, according to most insiders.
As for Belichick, he won’t have a shortage of offers sitting on his table.
