Each MLB offseason we have players who must reach deals with their teams to avoid arbitration.
Some of those deals are starting to be reported.
One player who needed a deal was Chicago White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease.
He is coming off a rough season, but at only 28 years old many people think the best is ahead for Cease.
But, it remains to be seen how much longer he will remain a White Sox.
Many reports have surfaced that Cease is on the trade block.
His salary for 2024 is low enough that any team can make a play for him.
According to Robert Murray, the White Sox and Cease agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal.

In 2022, he was the runner-up for AL Cy Young.
He has all the talent you look for in an ace.
Paying him only $8 million seems like a steal.
It would be a surprise if Cease played this entire season with the White Sox.
The team is looking to rebuild and Cease could get them back a nice package of prospects.
Also, it seems like the pitcher needs a change of scenery to get back to his dominant ways.
Cease has two more years of control on his current contract.
So he will not become an unrestricted free agent until the 2026 season.
One thing going for Cease is that he has been durable throughout his career.
Each of the last three seasons he has started at least 32 games.
Any contending team should be eager to land a pitcher like Cease.
