The deals keep coming on Thursday in MLB, as it’s the last day for teams and players to settle on contracts for the 2024 season without third parties entering the equation.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the teams with multiple contracts to settle, and one of those was Dustin May’s.
Fortunately for all parties involved, both sides are in agreement.
“Dustin May agrees to a 1-year, $2.135 million contract with the Dodgers. He hasn’t pitched since May and underwent season-ending elbow surgery,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

May has had horrible luck with arm injuries.
He did’t pitch after May, and after several measures hoping he could avoid surgery, he still went under the knife.
On July 4, it was reported he did undergo season-ending flexor tendon surgery on his right elbow.
The flexor tendon surgery included a revision to the Tommy John procedure he underwent in 2021.
The timeframe for his return was set at 12 months, which means he could eventually contribute in the summer for the Dodgers.
He would be a very valuable starter if he ever regains full health in 2024.
In 191.1 career innings, he has a cool 3.10 ERA and 174 strikeouts, with a sinker capable of approaching 100 mph.
It’s too bad that his arm hasn’t been able to give him a solid chance to complete one full season as an MLB starter yet.
In 2023, he pitched 48 innings of a 2.63 ERA, with 34 strikeouts.
If the Dodgers can get a healthy version of May at some point in the second half, they could be nearly impossible to beat.
