Just over two months ago, Joe Flacco was watching football on his couch, wondering if he’d ever get another chance to play in the NFL.
Fast forward to today, and he’s just a couple of hours away from starting in another playoff game, and the Cleveland Browns wouldn’t even have made it this far if it wasn’t for him.
Flacco’s play was a breath of fresh air for a team desperately craving some help at the QB position, and he’s earned every single ounce of praise he’s gotten since he took the reins of the team.
That’s why the team agreed to restructure his contract and give him some extra money while keeping him out of the regular season finale to keep him fresh for the playoffs.
Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the contract restructure also includes a $250,000 bonus if the Browns beat the Houston Texans in the wild-card game, so there’s even more on the line for the veteran gunslinger.
“As part of the contract he restructured last month, Browns’ quarterback Joe Flacco will receive a $250,000 bonus if Cleveland wins today’s wild-card game vs. the Texans,” Schefter said.

Flacco is tied with the legendary Tom Brady for the most road wins in playoffs history (7), and a win on Saturday would leave him alone at the top of that list.
Notably, he’s 5-0 in the wild-card round in his career, and another win would put him over Brett Favre and give him the best record in NFL history in that regard as well.
There was always a debate about Flacco’s status amongst the elite quarterbacks of the game, but this tenure with the Browns is helping him put an end to that debate.
