The NFL playoffs are where teams truly reveal themselves either as Super Bowl contenders or pretenders.
And after one day of playoff games, no team proved themselves more than the Houston Texans, who walloped the Cleveland Browns and their No. 1-ranked secondary in a 45-14 blowout win.
Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud lit up the first half through the air, while the defense scored touchdowns off two Joe Flacco interceptions in the second half to pull so far ahead that Cleveland couldn’t come back from the deficit.
That marquee victory prompted NFL Network analyst Marc Sessler to declare on social media that the Texans are good enough to “beat anyone.”
“The Houston Texans can beat anyone,” Sessler said.

That sentiment could be tested against the No. 1 team in the NFL next week if Houston has to face the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round.
If the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, the Texans would be the lowest seed left in the field and therefore travel to play the Ravens next week.
That could be where Houston’s playoff story ends, considering the Ravens had the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL this season and hasn’t given up more than 20 points in a game since Week 14.
But Stroud and company proved Saturday that the Texans can go toe-to-toe with anyone – especially a Browns team that beat both Houston and Baltimore during the regular season – even with a rookie quarterback, a first-time head coach in DeMeco Ryans, and a first-time offensive playcaller in Bobby Slowik.
Houston’s playoff journey isn’t set in stone yet, and they could have a few more upsets in mind as they head toward a possible Super Bowl berth.
