The praise for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud continued this weekend after the rookie trounced the Cleveland Browns in a blowout wild card win.
Stroud threw three first-half passing touchdowns against the vaunted Browns secondary and looked every bit as good as NFL draft analysts believed this past spring – perhaps even better.
One pundit who couldn’t say enough positive things about Stroud was Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd, who quickly claimed on his podcast that Stroud is one of the best 10 quarterbacks in the NFL already.
“He looks like a top-10 guy. Maybe at the bottom of it but he looks like a top-10 guy,” Cowherd said. “I don’t think that’s being hyperbolic or overstating anything.”

Stroud very well may win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for his regular season performance as he leads the Texans on a seemingly-improbable playoff run.
With Nico Collins looking like a bonafide wide receiver, Devin Singletary running well and Dalton Schultz playing as a reliable pass-catching tight end, the Texans offense clearly can compete with the best defenses in the NFL.
That could be tested as soon as next week depending on who wins the remaining AFC wild card games, as a win by the Buffalo Bills on Monday would send Houston to Baltimore to play the Ravens, and a win by the Pittsburgh Steelers would send the Texans to play the Kansas City Chiefs on the road – both of whom boast solid defenses.
But Stroud isn’t playing like a rookie despite also having a first-time offensive playcaller in Bobby Slowik and will get another shot to continue to show what he can do in the postseason.
