After firing head coach Arthur Smith shortly after losing their regular-season finale against the division-rival New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons brass have wasted no time interviewing candidates to find their head coach for the 2024 campaign.
Although the Falcons are expected to be one of the most aggressive teams in pursuit of legendary head coach Bill Belichick after he recently parted ways with the New England Patriots, Atlanta has already interviewed several candidates to be Smith’s successor.
According to Josh Kendall of The Athletic, the Falcons have interviewed four candidates for their head coaching vacancy in Atlanta.
The Falcons have completed a virtual interview with Carolina DC Ejiro Eviro. That’s four so far — Baltimore DC Mike Macdonald, Cincinnati OC Brian Callahan, 49ers DC Steve Wilks and Eviro.

The Falcons are clearly doing their due diligence before potentially going all-in to try to convince Belichick to take over for Smith and help change the culture in Atlanta in order to get this struggling franchise back on track.
With Belichick and the Patriots parting ways earlier this week, it is uncertain what he intends to do after spending more than two decades in New England, as he could consider retirement or take a break from coaching altogether if he doesn’t like the opportunities coming his way.
As arguably the greatest head coach in NFL history, there’s no doubt Belichick will get a lot of attention during the NFL offseason, as teams with the money and the talent will make their pitches to the 71-year-old.
Even though the Falcons have some talented players, like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, it remains to be seen if that’s enough to draw interest from Belichick.
