Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys entered Wild Card weekend with much on the line.
Yes, they were expected to beat the Green Bay Packers, but if they didn’t, there seemed to be something hanging over McCarthy’s head.
His future appeared contingent on the Cowboys’ success in this year’s playoff run.
After surprisingly losing to the Packers at home, the conversation surrounding McCarthy could get much louder.
Dak Prescott gave public support to his coach after the game, standing up for him after the loss.
According to Prescott via Ed Werder,” I’ve had the season I’ve had because of him, and the team has had the success they’ve had because of him.”
Dak Prescott on Mike McCarthy speculation: “Yeah, he’s been amazing. I understand the business. In that case, it should be about me as well. I’ve had the season that I’ve had because of him, and this team has had the success that they’ve had because of him.” pic.twitter.com/DXv140R6co

Prescott prefaced these comments by saying, “I understand the business.”
He knows what the NFL is like at this point in his career and that winning is the most important thing for any coach.
If a coach isn’t winning, even though he might be well-liked within a particular organization, it can lead to their eventual exit from the team.
Pete Carroll is a prime example of this.
He has been a staple of the Seattle Seahawks for over a decade, but after recent shortcomings, his time as head coach is done.
While McCarthy’s job status remains to be seen, things don’t necessarily look positive for him at this point.
Prescott and his teammates might be behind him, but if Jerry Jones believes that McCarthy isn’t what the organization needs to win, he could be out the door very soon.
