There was much fanfare after the Denver Broncos signed Sean Payton as their head coach.
After all, he led the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl victory and nine seasons with double-digit wins.
But the fanfare has died after the Broncos dropped their third straight game to open the 2023 NFL season.
Worst yet, the Miami Dolphins dropped 70 points on them while they lost by 50.
It’s a performance that could demoralize a team even if there are 14 games left.
As for Payton, he’s not sugarcoating anything by saying that they have a crisis.
“We don’t have to worry about creating a crisis if it’s real, right? We have a crisis,” Payton said via DNVR Sports’ Zac Stevens.
After practice, Sean Payton talked about how when his Saints teams were winning a lot of games, he would, at times, have to create a crisis.
He then said:

What looked like a promising partnership has imploded among the Broncos faithful.
They could find a silver lining from the team’s first two games, saying they fought before ultimately absorbing a loss.
Unfortunately, they were on the wrong side of history in Week 3.
It’s up to Payton to motivate his squad after a terrible beatdown.
He must convince the team they are more than last week’s performance.
Otherwise, the stench of that defeat might linger, leading them to quit on their season already.
Meanwhile, Russell Wilson must find ways to finish games strong.
Through three games, he has a 76.5 completion percentage, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions in the first half.
Those numbers dip to 54.7, one touchdown and two picks in the second half.
If the Broncos can’t even beat the 0-3 Chicago Bears, is it time to abandon all hope with this squad?
