One of the NFL’s top head coaching candidates this offseason will be free to interview with teams now after his team lost in the NFC Wild Card round.
Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who was a head coaching candidate this past offseason as well, has once again been requested by a number of teams to interview for their vacant positions.
With the Wild Card round behind him, Quinn will conduct virtual interviews with four teams before potential in-person interviews the following week, according to Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer: the Carolina Panthers, the Tennessee Titans, the Washington Commanders, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Each of those four teams offers a lot of positives and negatives for any prospective head coach.
The Panthers are subjectively the worst opening because of their lack of draft capital, the uncertainty around Bryce Young as a franchise quarterback, and the perceived lack of patience from owner David Tepper.
The Titans, Commanders, and Chargers all have various levels of talent on their respective rosters, though all did struggle mightily in 2023.
While Quinn’s most recent game with the Cowboys didn’t go well, as his defense gave up 41 points in a loss to the Green Bay Packers, he’s proven to be an adept coach who also has head coaching experience with the Atlanta Falcons and went to the Super Bowl in his second season with the team.
Whether or not he gets a job, though, remains to be seen as teams make their final decisions on their top candidates down the line.
