The St. Louis Cardinals did the bulk of their offseason work in the first few weeks.
Back then, they signed Kyle Gibson, Lance Lynn, and Sonny Gray to bolster their rotation.
That was one of their offseason objectives.
With their offensive core comprised of Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Brendan Donovan, Jordan Walker, Nolan Gorman, Tommy Edman, Willson Contreras, Dylan Carlson, and others, the lineup seems to be in good shape.
The rotation has been “fixed”, even though it’s not a top unit in the league.
The bullpen, however, could use a bit more help and president of baseball operations John Mozeliak admits it, according to MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.

He says that the Cardinals “are going to keep a close eye to what happens on the reliever market.”
Earlier this month, the Cards traded for Andrew Kittredge, and in December, they added Ryan Fernandez in the Rule 5 Draft.
Other than that, they haven’t done much when it comes to the bullpen.
Given how important the unit is – especially in the postseason – it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring in another arm or two.
It’s unlikely that the Cardinals will sign Josh Hader given his hefty demands, but they could potentially target a tier below that.
Hector Neris, Jakob Junis, Matt Moore, David Robertson, Ryan Brasier, Collin McHugh, Aroldis Chapman, Robert Stephenson, Adam Ottavino, Ryne Stanek and other enticing options remain available, and some of them could be had on affordable contracts.
Basically, failing to improve the relief corps would be entirely on the front office.
Let’s see if the Cardinals make a move or two.
