The Philadelphia Eagles exited the playoffs pretty unceremoniously during the team’s 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild card round.
The game wrapped up a horrific second half of the season that saw the Eagles win just one of their final seven games after a 10-1 start to the season.
Part of the downfall can be blamed on injuries or poor play, but at some point, the fingers must also be directed at head coach Nick Sirianni.
That’s exactly what Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd said Tuesday after the loss, where he claimed that Sirianni’s actual ability as a head coach was shielded by his coordinators who left for head coaching jobs this past offseason.
“He was like a kid who got a grown-up job,” Cowherd said, “and fooled people for a while because he had a great coordinator.”

Cowherd added that Sirianni’s demeanor on the sidelines wasn’t indicative of how a head coach acts and that it was obvious he had lost the Eagles locker room by the end of the season – and the bad losses were a result.
What comes next for the Eagles is up to general manager Howie Roseman and team owner Jeffrey Lurie.
They could see a coach that has no business leading a team after an utter collapse, or remain faithful that the man who brought the Eagles to the Super Bowl a year ago can do so again in the future with a slightly-retooled roster and coaching staff.
This offseason with be critical for the future of the Eagles, especially after they gave all this money to quarterback Jalen Hurts.
