As recently as late November, the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles were considered by many to be the best team in the NFL.
They held a 10-1 record at the time and were a strong favorite to return to the Super Bowl.
But since then, they lost six of their final seven games, including their humbling 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
In fact, FS1 personality Nick Wright said on “First Things First” that the way the Eagles fell apart in the last six weeks was “historically unprecedented.”
“The Eagles collapse is historically unprecedented.”

The Buccaneers went up 13-0 early in the second quarter, and Wright even said it seemed as if the Eagles didn’t “want to be there.”
Instead of another shot at the Vince Lombardi Trophy, Philly will have to spend the next six months licking their wounds and wondering what went wrong.
There have been some reports that head coach Nick Sirianni lost the locker room, as well as calls for him to be fired.
In reality, the warning signs were there for the Eagles even when they were winning games with regularity, as they weren’t blowing out inferior teams and had to come from behind several times to get a win.
In fact, all season long, they only had two wins by 10 points or more, which is unusual for a team that wins 10 of its first 11 games.
The Eagles seem to have the talent to make another serious run at the Vince Lombardi Trophy next season, but they will have to do a long autopsy first.
