At the beginning of September, the Chicago Cubs looked like a lock to be playing in the postseason.
They were playing some of the best baseball of the year and were in contention to win the NL Central.
But over the final month of the season, the wheels have fallen off for the Cubs.
Not only are they out of the NL Central race but they have fallen out of the Wild Card picture as well.
With only two games to go, the Cubs sit 1.5 games out of the final spot.
According to Codify, the Cubs had a 92% chance to make the playoffs 3.5 weeks ago.
Now their chances are at 4%.

The Cubs need to win their final two games of the season and hope the Marlins lose out.
Chicago no longer controls their destiny as they will need help to be playing in October.
Back in spring training, the external expectations were the Cubs would not be very good.
Certainly, not a team competing for a playoff spot.
The Cubs should be proud of the season they have had.
No matter if it ends in the playoffs or not.
If they can make some key additions in the offseason, that could put them over the top next year.
Cody Bellinger is one player the Cubs should look to bring back.
He had an incredible year but was only playing on a one-year contract.
You can bet the former MVP will be looking for a long-term deal this offseason.
And the Cubs should be interested in bringing him back.
