The Las Vegas Raiders finished the season on a somewhat high note.
The campaign was already in the history books, and they weren’t fighting for a postseason berth, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t fighting for something.
Josh McDaniels’ tenure in charge of the team will go down in infamy, and it became more than evident that he didn’t have control of the locker room.
The players didn’t seem to trust him or like his ways, and they rallied behind Antonio Pierce as soon as he was given the interim coach tag.
Fast forward to today, and it seems like the players have already made a decision about the coaching vacancy.
According to NFL legend Michael Irvin, the team wants Pierce to get the job on a full-time basis, and they won’t take no for an answer (via Robert Griffin III).
Michael Irvin went to Las Vegas and got a clear message from the Raiders’ locker room about Antonio Pierce. “THIS IS OUR COACH”. Mark Davis can’t mess this one up like he did with Rich Bisaccia.#RaiderNation @CrosbyMaxx

This isn’t much of a surprise.
The veterans have had nothing but praise and support for Pierce from day one, and there were even some reports about star pass rusher Maxx Crosby threatening to request a trade if they didn’t hire him.
The Raiders already went through something similar when they didn’t hire Rich Bisaccia after he took over Jon Gruden, and they cannot afford to make the same mistake.
So, as much as they were reportedly interested in Jim Harbaugh or even if Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel are available, it seems like this decision isn’t up for debate or negotiation at all, and Mark Davis will have to decide whether he wants to please his players or not.
