At just 34 years old, Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Freddie Freeman can proudly say he has achieved the vast majority of things a player dreams of when he is starting to consider baseball as a career.
He won a World Series in 2021 with the Atlanta Braves, he won the 2020 NL MVP award with them, he has earned life-changing money and his family is set up for life, he is a seven-time MLB All-Star, and he has won a Gold Glove Award in 2018, and the Silver Slugger award in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
What is left for him to achieve in the game he loves?
Well, as a matter of fact, there is still a carrot or two in front of him.
First off, he would love to win a World Series or two with the Dodgers, as part of an incredibly talented group of individuals.
And, of course, there is the pursuit of 3,000 career hits, as Codify Baseball kindly reminds us.
“Freddie Freeman is 34 and needs 886 more regular season hits to make it to 3,000. Will he do it?,” they tweeted.

Why is it possible for Freeman to reach the milestone?
Basically because he is performing better than ever before.
In 2023, he had a career-high 211 hits and a .331 batting average.
Like fine wine, he is getting better every year.
To get those 886 hits he needs to make history, he will need to average just over 177 hits over the next five seasons.
If he remains healthy, it’s very doable: over the last five full seasons, he has averaged 191.4.
Health, and potential decline of course, will be the main factors here.
