The Chicago Bears made a great deal when they traded the No. 1 pick last season to the Carolina Panthers.
They wanted to give Justin Fields another chance to prove his worth, knowing they would still own the Panthers’ first-rounder this year.
It worked out perfectly, as Fields played just good enough to get himself another opportunity somewhere else, and the Panthers ended with the first-overall selection again.
Now, the Bears are most likely going to pick USC star Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick, but they could still get some nice value in return for Fields.
According to NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper, he believes the Bears could get the Atlanta Falcons’ No. 8 selection in return for the Ohio State product (via ESPN 1000).
“If you trade Justin Fields to Atlanta, you could get the 8th pick overall,” Kiper said.

That way, the Bears could have the No. 1, No. 8, and No. 9 pick, and they could even trade down one of those picks to recoup a second-round selection as well.
That could sound like a bit of a reach, considering the Bears originally took him with the No. 11 pick.
Then again, the Falcons are a quarterback away from contention, and him being a hometown player seemingly tailor-made for their roster, it would be a deal they could make.
Fields has proved that he could be one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the game, and he closed out the season on a very high note.
Nonetheless, injury-proneness and unnecessary risk-taking are big concerns, and that’s something he’ll have to work on, just like Lamar Jackson.
