The future of Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce remains a bit unclear despite reports the veteran plans to retire from the NFL.
Some outlets are reporting Kelce will step away, while the center himself said he will make an announcement when he’s ready.
Meanwhile, his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, threw a little more uncertainty into the rumor mill by speculating that Jason could continue to play if he wants to.
“I think the big guys still got some football left,” Kelce said, via KSHB41’s McKenzie Nelson, “if he wants it.”

Kelce has played 13 seasons for the Eagles, made seven Pro Bowls and six All-Pro teams, and won a Super Bowl.
So with the rigors of playing center in the NFL – especially on a team that deploys a lot of quarterback sneaks (aka “the tush push”) in the red zone – it makes sense that he’d begin to think about his post-playing career.
He also has a lot of media work in commercials, as well as his podcast with Travis.
The only thing that could theoretically keep Kelce from retiring is the hope that the Eagles can return to the Super Bowl in one season.
Philadelphia looked like they could in 2023 before an utter collapse at the end of the regular season bled into the postseason with a huge loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round.
Kelce doesn’t need to officially make a decision yet, but the Eagles will need to know soon if they need to find a new starting center for 2024.
