The Philadelphia Eagles floundered at the end of the 2023 season on both offense and defense before bowing out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round.
The team got off to a hot start but looked nothing like the squad that made the Super Bowl a year ago after Philadelphia lost its offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs this past offseason.
Continuity won’t prevail for the Eagles in 2024, though, after the team let go of defensive coordinator Sean Desai and defensive assistant Matt Patricia and now reportedly won’t bring back offensive coordinator Brian Johnson either, according to NFL reporter Derrick Gunn.
All indications are Brian Johnson will not be returning as the Eagles OC …. He will land elsewhere in some offensive capacity …

This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering how up-and-down the offense looked under Johnson’s direction despite his rapport with quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles scored just nine points in the Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and couldn’t get anything going on the ground or through the air despite some upgrades on the offense.
Most of the offense should remain intact for 2024 with wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith returning and being led by Hurts under center, so a new offensive coordinator could be what the Eagles need after they lost Shane Steichen to the Indianapolis Colts a year ago.
Who that coordinator is, though, remains to be seen as the NFL coaching carousel rolls on.
The Eagles could promote internally or look elsewhere to shake up the offense under head coach Nick Sirianni.
But at the very least, it looks as though Sirianni will remain the head coach and that he will try to avoid the same mistakes that plagued the Eagles this past season as they look toward 2024.
