Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is once again the talk of the NFL.
He’s trending toward winning a second career Most Valuable Player award and has led the Ravens to the AFC Championship Game against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
This all comes in the same year that the rest of the NFL had the opportunity to go after Jackson after the Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on him when he asked for a lucrative contract extension and six years after every team passed on him in the first round before Baltimore traded up to draft him.
All of that is why ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe said he believes Jackson’s 2023 story is the best of the year, via “First Take.”
“Lamar Jackson is the best story right now and it’s not even close,” Sharpe said. ” … Given what he’s been through, given all the doubt that was surrounding him, you tell a better situation where somebody told you you can’t be this and here you are now on the cusp about to win your second MVP [and] an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl.”

Jackson has already proven the doubters who wanted him to be a running back or wide receiver wrong, and now he’ll get a chance to play for a shot at the Super Bowl.
The second MVP award would be nice from a personal accolade perspective, but NFL players are judged by their ability to win championships – something Jackson has yet to do in his career.
This Ravens squad is the best its been for Jackson, and all he needs to do now is take down the surprisingly-stout Chiefs defense on Sunday.
