The Los Angeles Angels suffered one of the biggest losses to their franchise ever this offseason.
Two-time AL MVP Shohei Ohtani was a free agent, and the Angels hoped to bring him back.
Unfortunately for them, he went across the area and signed a 10-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
That was a major setback for an Angels team that is now eying a rebuild.
Even with Ohtani and Mike Trout the Angels could not compete.
It would not be a surprise to see them finish as one of the worst teams in baseball next season.
Still, the Angels front office has made it clear they want to continue looking for ways to improve.
According to Angels GM Perry Minasian: “We’re definitely not done from an offseason standpoint, work-wise. It’s just got to be the right fit.”
Greg Beacham reported those comments after the Angels signed relief pitcher Robert Stephenson.

The issue for the Angels is that whoever they sign will not make them contenders.
Their roster has too many holes and signing one star player is not going to fix them.
No team has underachieved more than the Angels over the past decade.
They consistently have a high payroll and nothing to show for it.
It might be time for them to try a new approach.
But, these comments from the GM tend to say they are still hoping to compete for a playoff spot.
The offseason is far from over, but the current Angels roster does not look promising.
