Bill Belichick controlled nearly all aspects of the New England Patriots’ football operations during his tenure with the team but now enters unchartered territory while he interviews for other jobs.
It’s unclear if another team will give Belichick the same time of leeway when it comes to building the team, but former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski told FanDuel TV’s Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show that Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank should do just that if he hires Belichick.
“I would 100% hand it over to Coach Belichick,” Gronkowski said. “… He knows how to do it. He’s got experience. So hand it over to him – he’s going to change the program around.”
Should Arthur Blank and the #Falcons hand over FULL control to Bill Belichick?

Belichick played a critical role in the construction of the Patriots dynasty over the past almost-three decades in New England, although there are questions about his ability to draft.
The Patriots’ rosters were built around a quality defense, offensive line, and receivers that quarterback Tom Brady could turn into stars.
The Falcons are a very malleable team that could use a heavy-handed football mind like Belichick to reshape in his image – they just need a quarterback and some pieces on defense to compete in the easily-winnable NFC South.
Belichick appears to be one of the Falcons’ top head coaching candidates, but he remains a free agent as of this writing with no deal imminent while Atlanta continues to interview other candidates.
The Falcons already have a general manager in Terry Fontenot, who may not be interested in relinquishing control of operations to a new coach.
