The Atlanta Falcons continue to pursue their next coach.
There were multiple reports about their alleged interest in Bill Belichick, yet nothing has come to fruition.
Belichick has even met with them twice, yet they continue to have more interviews with different candidates.
A report even stated that they had been very impressed with Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.
With that in mind, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Belichick’s candidacy may have cooled off or lost all momentum (Via Bryce Lewis).
Talking on Get Up, Schefter reported that the Falcons said that their coaching job continued to be ‘wide open’ even after meeting with the legendary head coach twice.
“If it’s wide open after you have met with him twice, it certainly tells you that he’s not the favorite,” Schefter said.

He explained that coach hiring cycles often work in patterns, with teams losing interest in candidates and then going back to them, or even suddenly becoming interested in guys they hadn’t pursued earlier.
Nonetheless, it seems like he doesn’t like Belchick’s chances to land a job right now.
Schefter reports that the Falcons are the only team even remotely interested in his services, with the other three teams with head coach vacancies not even reaching out to him.
That means that now that he might not be the favorite to be the Falcons’ head coach, there’s a real possibility that he won’t get a job at all.
As crazy as that may sound, we’re entering a new era, and this cruel business doesn’t care about what you did in the past; it’s all about what you can do for them now.
