The head coaching search is officially over for the Atlanta Falcons.
Many fans and analysts were convinced they were going to go another way, but the team ended up selecting Raheem Morris as their newest head coach.
This was an interesting move, but because Morris has familiarity with the organization, it seems to make sense for everyone involved.
Morris recently discussed this new position in a transcript shared by the Falcons via Around The NFL.
He said, “I am overjoyed for the opportunity for my family and I to return to Atlanta as the Falcons head coach.”

While some fans expected the team to select Bill Belichick as their head coach, Morris is not only the team’s clear choice, but he genuinely seems excited to be leading the team again.
He also said, “We know from firsthand experience what a first-class organization Atlanta is.”
For many years, the Falcons seemed to be a team that would contend for a playoff spot every season.
Matt Ryan was a beloved quarterback within the fanbase, and his on-field play was a big reason for the Falcons’ success over the years.
However, at the tail end of his time with the team and after he left, the Falcons have struggled to find consistent quarterback play, which hasn’t helped their chances of making deep playoff runs.
They do have a lot of questions to answer in the next several months, and finding their next quarterback will certainly be one of them.
While that remains unknown, the Falcons can take solace in the fact that Morris is back, ready to help this team take their next step.
