The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to part ways with Matt Canada during the season, a rare move for the organization.
This was the first time the Steelers fired a coach in the middle of the season since 1941.
Canada had only been the team’s offensive coordinator for three seasons, but after several lackluster performances, it was best for the Steelers to move on.
The team is now on the hunt for a new OC, and judging by how quickly teams have found their head coaches, the Steelers must work quickly.
Jonathan Jones recently reported that the Steelers are interviewing Jerrod Johnson, the Houston Texans’ quarterbacks coach.
Texans QBs coach Jerrod Johnson is interviewing today with the Steelers for their vacant offensive coordinator position, source says. Johnson has already interviewed with the Browns, Saints, Patriots and Eagles for their OC jobs. His work with Stroud has been noticed leaguewide.

As he mentions, the brilliance of C.J. Stroud has been noted by many across the league, and it seems that Johnson was a big part of his development process.
Given that Johnson has already interviewed with four teams, he could have the pick of the litter, hoping to go to what he sees as the best situation.
Of course, he could already be in his best possible situation, as Stroud has been touted as one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.
If Johnson continues to have success in Houston, he could not only see more enticing OC offers, but he could also find himself in the head coach search as well.
Ben Johnson has found similar luck with the Detroit Lions, so it could be beneficial for him to wait another year, holding out for a head coaching gig.
Fans will be on the edge of their seats waiting to see how the rest of the coaching dominoes fall throughout the rest of the offseason.
