The Los Angeles Chargers desperately craved a change of direction.
Brandon Staley’s tenure in charge of the team had been full of underperformances, disappointing outings, and shortcomings, and it was time to part ways with him.
He drew plenty of criticism for his decision-making during his days as a coach, being uber-aggressive at times and blatantly passive when he needed to take risks.
Also, his team was often on the losing end of close games, struggling to either come from behind to take the lead or hold onto leads late in games.
Nonetheless, as disappointing as his tenure as a head coach was, he’s still a well-respected defensive mind in the league.
That’s why it’s not a surprise to see Adam Schefter of ESPN reporting that he’s going to meet with both the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins for their defensive coordinator position, and he’s also emerged as a potential option for the Los Angeles Rams.

Staley failed to establish his defensive identity with the Chargers, but he could still do a great job as a coordinator.
The Packers just parted ways with Joe Barry, while the Dolphins did the same with Vic Fangio, who later joined the Philadelphia Eagles as their defensive coordinator.
The Rams, however, could be the best fit, as he was already their defensive coordinator for one season before becoming a head coach, and they also have a big vacancy on Sean McVay’s coaching staff after Rahem Morris left to coach the Atlanta Falcons.
