In this era, fan engagement goes well beyond on-field performance for teams.
Yes, performance and win-loss record will often determine how many people will go watch the team, but there is more to it: promo nights, social media activity and creativity, things to offer kids and young fans, and knowing how to establish a connection with the team and its identity.
The Washington Nationals are taking that last item to practice and have unveiled two cool uniforms for the 2024 campaign.
“The Nationals have unveiled a new alternate pullover uniform, and a change to their road jersey for 2024,” FOX Sports: MLB tweeted.

The pullover uniform is neat and tidy, looking great with the colors of the flag: red, white, and blue.
It also has a W, standing for “”Washington” and the Capitol as the background.
It’s a piece of clothing that even neutral fans would, and could, wear.
The new road uniform is also easy on the eyes, with a grey color and the word “Washington” on the front.
The Nationals, since 2019, have had a rough time negotiating and extending their own players.
The ones they signed long-term (Stephen Strasburg comes to mind) have worked out for the worst.
They have either traded or lost key players and are now in a rebuilding process.
Last year, finally, some progress was made: the team finished with a rather respectable but still bad 71-91 record.
After some of the years they have been enduring, that represents a step in the right direction.
The 2024 campaign will be crucial for Washington: will they keep improving and growing, or will they take a step back?
