On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing in their sixth straight AFC Championship when they take on the Baltimore Ravens.
But for the first time during this stretch, the Chiefs’ attempt to get a win and move on to the Super Bowl will be taking place on the road.
With the Ravens ending the 2023 season as the top seed in the AFC, they captured home-field advantage, and now Kansas City will be trying to win two road playoff games in a row for the first time since 1969.
If the Chiefs are going to get a victory on Sunday, it will have to be without All-Pro offensive guard Joe Thuney, who suffered a pectoral injury during the team’s divisional-round win over the Buffalo Bills last week.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, there’s still a chance that Thuney could return to the field if the Chiefs advance to the Super Bowl, but it’s being considered a long shot.

According to Rapoport, the severity of Thuney’s injury is still unknown on whether it’s torn or a strain.
The veteran offensive lineman is in his third year with Kansas City after he signed a lucrative contract with the franchise during the 2021 offseason.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Thuney spent the previous five years of his NFL career as a member of the New England Patriots.
