Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins could become one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason even despite his recovery from an Achilles injury in 2023.
Cousins has spent the past six seasons in Minnesota but could opt to play for another team in 2024 and beyond if he wants to see what he can do with a different franchise.
His price, though, could be very high after the Pioneer Press’ Charley Walters reported Cousins is looking for a fully guaranteed two-year, $90 million contract (via Dov Kleiman).

That would be a massive deal, as the $45 million average annual value would put him on the same tier as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and ahead of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
However, he’d still be way below position leaders like Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers), Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens), and Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles), who all signed record-setting deals this past offseason.
It’s unclear if any team other than the Vikings are interested in Cousins – especially at that price.
Minnesota has been solid with Cousins under center and had a good offense between him, wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, and tight end T.J. Hockenson.
Jefferson will need to get paid sooner rather than later, though, and should command a record-breaking deal for his position after a sensational start to his career.
Hockenson, meanwhile, will be recovering from a late-season ACL tear.
So while Cousins would be the simplest solution to relevancy for the Vikings in 2024, his health, age, and price might not make sense for Minnesota moving forward.
