Baseball video games have become increasingly famous in recent years.
Not only are kids playing them: grown-ups who like to disconnect from reality for a couple of hours can easily sit tight, grab the controller, and start building a dynasty.
MLB The Show allows players to have highly entertaining experiences, from practicing to playing with legendary players, to developing the farm system, or embarking on a season mode.
It’s arguably the biggest and most famous baseball video game.
Naturally, the cover athlete generates interest and excitement around the league.
Every fan wants their favorite team’s star to be honored with the distinction of being on the cover of the video game everybody loves and plays.
This time, Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was chosen as the cover athlete of MLB The Show 24.

He follows his dad’s footsteps, as Vladimir Guerrero Sr. was the cover athlete for the MLB 2006 video game.
The MLB (Year) series was released under the 989 Sports brand until 2006.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the Miami Marlins was the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23, and Shohei Ohtani was on the cover a year before.
Since 2006, players such as David Ortiz, David Wright, Dustin Pedroia, Joe Mauer, Andrew McCutchen, Miguel Cabrera, Yasiel Puig, Ken Griffey Jr., Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, and Fernando Tatis Jr., among others, have received the distinction to be game’s image.
Guerrero might have had a down season in 2023, with a .788 OPS and 26 home runs, but he remains a big part of the Blue Jays’ lineup and very popular in MLB, particularly in Canada.
