Taylor Swift became a focal point of the 2023 NFL season when she started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and continued to be featured whenever she attended a game this year.
And as the Chiefs ascended throughout the second half of the season and through the playoffs all the way to a Super Bowl berth, Swift has been there to celebrate and support Kelce – much to the chagrin of some football fans on social media.
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd doesn’t understand why some – mostly men – are unhappy with the attention Swift received this season and noted that not only do football broadcasts show way more than just the game, but that Swift isn’t even shown as often as people think.
“This anger says nothing about Taylor Swift. It says everything about the men bothered by it,” Cowherd said.

The key issue Cowherd pointed out is that male celebrity fans who are prominently shown on broadcasts such as Eminem, Spike Lee, or Matthew McConaughey are lauded by fans, whereas Swift – a successful woman – is scorned by those same fans.
Cowherd said a lot of that is because of the idea that Swift represents something that certain fans dislike for personal reasons.
All the NFL and its broadcast partners are doing is promoting their sport with faces that reach a wider audience than ever before – and Swift is a part of that movement.
So while some fans may be angry that Swift remains a part of the NFL world, that is the reality of the sport when any new celebrity becomes a fan.
