San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is one win away from taking home a Super Bowl victory just two seasons after he was the last pick of the NFL draft.
Winning the Super Bowl is impressive in it’s own right, but what Purdy could do at his age and experience level is on a different level than almost every other quarterback in NFL history.
But some pundits and fans don’t sound too interested in seeing a player like Purdy win the Super Bowl because they don’t believe he’s good enough to even be a starting quarterback in the NFL, which rubbed former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt the wrong way.
“The thing about Brock that’s fascinating to me is that most of the time, America roots for an underdog story,” Watt said. “… But instead, somehow we’re like, ‘No. This guy sucks. That’s terrible. No one wants to see him win. Wow.’ That’s pretty wild. That’s fascinating to me that that’s the narrative that we decided to go with for Brock Purdy.”

What Purdy is going up against could change that narrative, though, because a win over the vaunted Kansas City Chiefs team could silence the doubters while a loss would only confirm the thoughts of his detractors.
Fortunately, Purdy will play in the Super Bowl will an incredible group of players on offense from Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle to Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.
If there was ever a moment to alter what people think of Purdy, this is the change he’s been looking for after just two seasons.
