The Kansas City Chiefs will have a chance to add another story to their castle when they take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
The Chiefs defeated the 49ers four years ago in the Super Bowl to win their first world championship of the Patrick Mahomes era, and they won their second against the Philadelphia Eagles a year ago.
Claiming a third Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 11 would make them, in the minds of many, a legitimate NFL dynasty.
Unfortunately, Chris Jones, their star defensive tackle, is nursing a quad injury, and had the Chiefs held practice on Wednesday, he wouldn’t have been able to participate, per Myles Simmons of ProFootballTalk.

They will need Jones to be healthy and productive in order to win, as they need to pressure Niners quarterback Brock Purdy and keep him off-balance while preventing him from wheeling his way out of the pocket, something he excels at.
Jones held out of the regular-season opener in the hopes of getting a lucrative contract extension, and just when things looked bleak, he got a one-year contract.
In 16 games this year, he had 10.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hits, and 13 tackles for loss, which earned him his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection and second straight All-Pro First-Team nod.
On offense, the Chiefs aren’t quite what they used to be, and as a result, they have won with defense this year much more than they have in the past.
They have opened up as slight underdogs in Super Bowl LVIII, but that is likely the way they like it, as they have been underdogs for a while following a somewhat lackluster regular season.
