It’s the dawn of a new era for the Seattle Seahawks.
It took them a while, but they finally found the perfect replacement for Pete Carroll, who stepped down after 14 years in charge of the team.
Notably, there’s a lot of excitement around the organization and the fan base, at least, according to former Seahawks great Shaun Alexander.
Alexander talked to Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show about this new hire, stating that the Seahawks have never been afraid to play some tough defense, and they know that’s what they’re going to get with Mike Macdonald.
“There’s something about him that has this ‘we going to get this thing done,’ Alexander said.

Macdonald is coming off being the architect behind the best defensive unit in the league, leading the Baltimore Ravens all the way to the AFC Championship Game.
The Seahawks have the personnel to become one of the best defensive teams in the league right away.
Of course, Geno Smith might continue to be an issue to address going forward, as he kind of regressed after his breakout campaign last season, but this Seahawks team has everything it needs to compete in that division, even despite their youth.
It’s going to be rare not to see Carroll on the sideline after more than a decade in charge of the team, which is something that doesn’t happen too often in professional sports.
Then again, Macdonald was one of the most coveted assistant coaches in this coaching cycle for a reason, and while defensive-minded assistants don’t always fare well as the main guy, there are plenty of reasons to be excited if you’re a Seahawks fan.
