After parting ways with head coach Brandon Staley following the devastating loss to the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders during the regular season, the Los Angeles Chargers had their work cut out for them trying to find his successor and the right person for the job to get this talented team back on track.
Fortunately for the Chargers, University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was coming off a National Championship, was ready to come back to the NFL in hopes of winning that elusive Vince Lombardi Trophy.
It didn’t take long for Harbaugh to sign on the dotted line, even though he flirted with the idea of taking other head coaching jobs in the league, interviewing with the Atlanta Falcons twice.
With Harbaugh now officially the new head coach of the Chargers, he had one word to share with the audience during a press conference in Los Angeles, via Bridget Condon of NFL Network.
“If I were to say one word it would be gratitude for this opportunity and for the guidance that I’ve received. Gratitude to the Spanos family.”

Even though there were plenty of big-name head coaches available, like Mike Vrabel, Bill Belichick, and Pete Carroll, the Chargers chose to go with the guy they wanted all along, and it will likely pay off sooner rather than later due to his ability to be a game-changer.
Harbaugh has the unique ability to change the culture of a football team both at the college and NFL level, as he’s been successful wherever he’s gone, which is exactly what the Chargers franchise needs moving forward.
