The New England Patriots have moved on from Bill Belichick.
Jerod Mayo will kick off the new era in Foxboro, and the future Hall of Famer coach continues to be without a job.
Every head-coach needy team has already hired someone, and there wasn’t much interest in Belichick’s services.
Most people speculated that he could go unhired after missing the Atlanta Falcons head coaching job, and, surprising as it may seem, they were right.
With that in mind, NFL legend Michael Irvin claimed that this could be the end of the line for the legendary coach.
Talking on Undisputed, the retired wide receiver stated that if something doesn’t happen either midseason or next year, then we may have seen the last of Bill Belichick.
“If something doesn’t happen next year, we’ve seen the last of Bill Belichick,” Irvin said.

Irvin argued that plenty of defensive-minded coaches were hired in this cycle, so that wasn’t the reason why he couldn’t land a job.
Belichick had the league in a chokehold for over two decades, but his post-Tom Brady years were far from impressive.
Overall, his record without Brady has been rather mediocre, and he does have a reputation for being hard to work with.
Times have changed, and this is a cruel business.
It’s not about what you’ve done but about what you can do in the future.
Also, with him likely to retire shortly after breaking Don Shula’s record, teams may not have been interested in having him as a two-year stopgap and then having to go through this hiring process again.
Whatever the case, we may never see Bill Belichick coaching again.
