One team that MLB fans never see make noise in the offseason is the Oakland Athletics.
Last season, the A’s were the worst team in baseball, and their unwillingness to spend money is an issue.
The A’s never pay up for any top player and when they do get a star player they trade him before his contract is up.
Any move the A’s make is seemingly cost-efficient and will help keep their payroll down.
The only way the A’s are going to be successful is by drafting and developing their players.
But, they did decide to go outside for some help on Friday.
According to Jeff Passan, the A’s have acquired Ross Stripling from the San Francisco Giants for minor leaguer Jonah Cox.

Stripling is a middle-of-the-rotation starter, but that is something the A’s need.
They are struggling all over their roster and any MLB help is a positive.
Last season, Stripling pitched in 22 games for the Giants.
He threw 89.0 innings, allowing 104 hits and an ERA of 5.36.
Stripling will be 34 next season and he is entering the final year of his contract.
If Stripling pitches well at any point during the season he will be a nice trade piece for the A’s.
But, more than likely he will just be a one-year stopgap until the A’s can get more pitching.
The 2024 season will be the final one in Oakland for the A’s.
Unfortunately for Oakland fans, it does not look like the 2024 season will be successful.
