The San Francisco 49ers are headed back to the Super Bowl for another shot at their sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy, and they boast a star-studded roster that just may be the most talented in the NFL.
A lot of attention is focused on All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, and defenders Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, as well as, of course, Cinderella quarterback Brock Purdy.
However, left tackle Trent Williams is somewhat of an unsung hero, as many don’t talk much about him even though he’s considered by plenty of people to be the best at his position.
In fact, one measure of his greatness is the fact that he leads all active NFL players with 11 Pro Bowl invites, per FOX Sports: NFL.

Williams was the No. 4 pick in the 2010 draft by Washington after four strong seasons at the University of Oklahoma, and he was a fixture for the franchise throughout the 2010s.
However, it was discovered he had a growth on his head in 2013, and despite being told it wasn’t serious at the time, he had a procedure to remove it in 2019 as it was revealed the growth was cancerous.
He asked to be traded and didn’t play that season, and the Niners, who had just lost in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, pounced on the opportunity by acquiring him in April 2020.
That trade reunited him with head coach Kyle Shanahan, who was Washington’s offensive coordinator for the first four seasons of his pro career.
Between Williams, Aiyuk, McCaffrey, and Purdy, the Niners have weapons they didn’t have four years ago when they lost the world championship to the Chiefs, and they’re looking for revenge this time around against the same Chiefs franchise in this year’s big game.
