The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year.
Despite a down year offensively, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to overcome the odds and now find themselves with a chance to repeat as champions
Kansas City’s defense has been able to prop up the team in the postseason, but the offense will need to step up if it hopes to overcome the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers boast a tough and physical defensive line that’s capable of getting pressure, so Mahomes will need to rely on short and quick throws to keep the offense on schedule.
San Francisco has been susceptible to running backs, so Isiah Pacheco should be a big part of the game plan.
However, Kansas City might also get some additional help in the backfield as Jerick McKinnon has been designated to return from injured reserve, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“A potential addition for the Super Bowl: #Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon has been designated to return off Injured Reserve. His practice window is open,” Rapoport reported.

McKinnon was placed on IR with a sports hernia/pelvis injury and was considered a long-shot to return for the playoffs.
However, with the Chiefs making it all the way to the Super Bowl, it gave McKinnon enough to recover and potentially suit up in the championship game.
McKinnon is a solid change-of-pace back who is also their best receiving option at the running back position, so if he’s able to play it would give Kansas City’s offense some additional juice against San Francisco.
