It’s been more than a handful of years since Tony Romo retired as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys and began his career as an NFL color commentator for CBS.
At first, the majority of people enjoyed the unique insight that Romo was able to add to a TV broadcast since it hadn’t been very long since he was an actual player in the league.
Over the years, however, some of grown annoyed with some of Romo’s habits in the broadcast booth and how he reacts to certain moments throughout a game.
This season, Romo and Jim Nantz will be on the call for the Super Bowl, which is set to air on CBS next Sunday.
During a recent media conference call, the former Cowboys quarterback shared some of his thoughts on the NFL fans who might not enjoy his work inside the broadcast booth (via NYPost.com).
“I think there’s far more people who I see every single day who come up and love our broadcast and our team and CBS and what we do, and I hear that and feel that. And you can feel it in life. There’s so many people that have said they love us,” Romo said.
Some might not like to hear it, but Romo is probably correct.
Despite the fact that we constantly hear people complain or see people posting online about how they dislike his broadcasting style, it doesn’t mean that this is how the majority of NFL fans feel.
The people who complain might be the loudest, but that doesn’t mean they speak for everyone who consumes the NFL on TV each season.
Romo’s approach to commenting on what’s happening down on the field in each game isn’t for everyone, and that is completely fine.
But until millions of fans decide not to watch the NFL because Romo is on the call, he’s likely going to continue to remain in the broadcast booth for CBS.
