It’s safe to say that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers exceeded all expectations this season.
They took the NFC South Division from the New Orleans Saints, who were expected to be the best team in the division, and they even managed to win a playoff game.
Notably, that playoff win happened to come against a team that was fresh off a Super Bowl trip, the Philadelphia Eagles.
On top of that, it might’ve been the final game of a legend of the game, Jason Kelce.
With that in mind, Bucs beat writer Adam Silvon asked Kelce after the Pro Bowl games to share his thoughts on Baker Mayfield and the season he had after facing him twice this year.
Kelce tipped his hat to the former No. 1 pick, claiming that he’s always had great respect for him because he knows how much of a fighter and a stout competitor he is.
“I’ve always had tremendous respect for Baker. He’s a fighter, he’s a guy that wears his heart on his sleeve,” Kelce said.

The future Hall of Famer stated that Mayfield is a guy who makes his teammates rally around him and who inspires people.
That’s certainly what the Bucs hope.
They’re reportedly set to sign him to a very lucrative multi-year deal, which is not much of a surprise after watching him play last season.
Even in their postseason loss, Mayfield was able to make it a close game, and that’s despite closing out the year banged up.
Of course, players tend to regress after getting paid big bucks after a career year, and that’ll always be a concern with quarterbacks, Mayfield included.
For now, however, the Bucs should be very enthused about their quarterback.
