The Los Angeles Dodgers have had an offseason that may go down as one of their best ever.
The Dodgers have always been a team that is not afraid to spend money.
But, this offseason they took it up a notch.
The Dodgers have spent over $1 billion on free agents this offseason.
The crown jewel of the group is two-way star Shohei Ohtani.
Ohtani agreed to a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers.
That is the largest contract in baseball history.
But, the two-time AL MVP is worth it for his dominant hitting and pitching ability.
Unfortunately for the Dodgers, Ohtani will be unable to pitch in 2024 as he recovers from elbow surgery.
But, he will still be able to be the everyday designated hitter for the Dodgers.
According to Alden Gonzalez, Ohtani is “very confident” he’ll be DH’ing for the Dodgers in their season opener.
Shohei Ohtani said he is “very confident” he’ll be DH’ing for the Dodgers when they open their season in South Korea. He said he’s right on scheduling on the hitting side and will start hitting velocity when he reports to Arizona.

Ohtani can do plenty of damage with his bat and one could even argue he is a top-10 hitter in baseball.
What makes him special is his ability to hit for power.
Last season, Ohtani led the AL in home runs with 44.
He has also hit 124 home runs over the past three seasons.
Hitting in the loaded Dodgers lineup should have Ohtani in for a career year.
Do not be surprised if he sets a career-high in RBI while making a push for 50 home runs.
The Dodgers knew what they were doing when they gave Ohtani $700 million.
He is the most impactful player in baseball and should put up huge numbers at the plate in 2024.
